Forces of Galba in Spain. Anonymous, 3 April-2nd half of June 68. Denarius (Silver, 19 mm, 3.57 g, 7 h), uncertain mint in Spain. Group X. BON•EVENT Diademed head of Bonus Eventus to right, wearing braided hair. Rev. ROM RENASC Roma advancing right, holding Victory on globe in her right hand and long eagle-tipped scepter in her left. BMC 10. CG 66.1 (this coin). Cohen 396. Martin 52 and pl. 4, 52 NY (same dies). Nicolas 49 and pl. XII, 49 PR (same dies). RIC 9. Smyth XVI/43 (this coin). Rare. Beautifully toned and with an excellent pedigree. Somewhat rough, otherwise, good very fine.

From the collections of Dipl.-Ing. Christian Gollnow and Hugh Algernon Percy (1914-1988), the 10th Duke of Northumberland, K.G., P.C., G.C.V.O., F.R.S., and very likely from the collection of Hugh Percy (circa 1714-1786), the 1st Duke of Northumberland, K.G. and P.C., removed from Alnwick Castle, Sotheby's, 4 November 1982, 552.
